This month’s competition is for a magazine front cover shot – Simon Rogerson has kindly agreed to judge the entries for us. Have a look at some diving magazine covers to get an idea what he’ll be looking for. It’s not essential to have a person in the image, although a lot of magazine cover shots do.
You will need to use this Photoshop template to assemble your entry – note that you’re at liberty to move or resize the two headlines to suit your image. You may find Yo-Han’s video or the following instructions helpful:
In Photoshop Elements:
- Open the template in Photoshop (double-clicking on the template should do it).
- Open the picture(s) you want to use.
- Copy/drag the picture onto the template.
- Resize and move the picture around until you’re happy.
- Go to LAYER, ARRANGE and choose SEND TO BACK.
- Save as a JPEG file.
Alternatively in Photoshop CC:
- Open the template in Photoshop (double-clicking on the template should do it).
- File – Place Embedded, select the picture you want to use
- Resize and move the picture around until you’re happy.
- Go to LAYER, ARRANGE and choose SEND TO BACK.
- Save as a JPEG file.
Usual monthly competition rules apply; entries should be submitted by Sunday 11th October. If you don’t have Photoshop or are having difficulty with it, please send your chosen image(s) in JPEG format to competition@nupg.org.uk .
