The November Northern Underwater Photography Group (NUPG) meeting saw Garry Dallas come to speak about his underwater photography journey from using a simple compact camera, then moving on to a GoPro, borrowing a host of underwater cameras systems from friends before finally splashing out on the SLR system. Garry is well known in these parts and many NUPG members have keenly watched his photography skills develop over the last few years and so it was great to finally get him to a meeting to speak about this.
Garry wowed the audeence with his incredible images from the Cenotes in Mexico, but he also included other favourite photographic subjects such as Whale Sharks, Grey Seals, wrecks, divers and even Eccy Delph! It was a passionate yet thoughtful talk that will have inspired all those in the room.

The competition theme this month was “Posing” and NUPG member Paul Ansell’s two entries, lizard fish and blenny, took the two top spots. In 3rd place was Nick Robertson-Brown with his shot of a manatee posing with a snorkeller. The compact category was won by Alex Tasker.

The final meeting of the year is a Christmas get together on Monday 9th December at a local pub to enjoy some drink, food and to chat about all things diving and underwater photography.
