NUPG/GNDS Open Print Competition 2017 Results

Last weekend the NUPG ran its second open print competition at the Great Northern Dive Show. In all 65 prints were entered and nearly 300 attendees of the show voted on the four categories. This year as well as four publicly voted categories there were also two overall category prizes chosen by judges from the prize suppliers with the assistance of professional underwater photographer Paul Duxfield. The four categories were British and Irish Macro, British and Irish Wide Angle, Overseas Macro and OverseasWide Angle. The winners in each of the public vote categories received a shark adoption pack from the Shark Trust and a certificate. The runners-up and highly commended entrants also received a certificate.

Committee members and volunteers from the group were on hand to encourage people to vote, with even Princess Leia and some Imperial stormtroopers voting!

As well as organising the voting NUPG members spent time discussing underwater photography and the work of the group with standgoers. The level interest seemed high and we hope to have gained some new members from the event.

All the winning images can be viewed in the gallery . Thank you to our sponsors Fleet Dive and Safari Diving for donating the overall prizes.

We intend to run the competition again next year and hope that this event will continue to grow.
